Uses Minova's Tekfoam is a foamed cement for use in cavity filling backfilling and construction. Designed for filling cavities in longwall sections on coal mines, other popular uses include backfilling arches, sets and liners, filling cavities to prevent methane buildup, cushion against falling debris over false roofs and safety bulkheads for ore bin rehabilitation. Advantages - Fast - Pumping rate of over 100 yd3/shift possible.
- Simple Mixing - Convenient one bag blend. Just add water and pump.
- High Yield - Less material to handle.
- Low Cost - Four 45lb bags will yield one yd3.
- Safety - Roof falls and cavities can be supported safely. Less caustic than typical foamed cements.
Description Tekfoam is a non-combustible void-filling and structural cementitious foam. Supplied as a powder, it forms a low density foam when combined with air and water in a specially designed placer unit. The placer meters and mixes the proper amount of air, water and powder as it pumps. Tekfoam’s thixotropic nature allows a rapid strength gain. It can be pumped 400’ (120m) through a 1” (25mm) hose, farther through a larger hose. Instructions For Use 1. Build a form to hold the foam in the desired location. Tekfoam can bridge across 1” (25mm) gaps. 2. Run a minimum of 200’ (60m) of 1” (25mm) line from the pump to the cavity area. This length of line is required to allow the Tekfoam to mix and foam properly. 3. In the case of a cavity that needs to be filled remotely, install two 3” (75mm) or larger stand pipes into the cavity, one to go into the highest point (as a breather), the other lower down. 4. Run the discharge line into the lower pipe. 5. Connect power to placer unit and hook up to a fresh water supply (minimum 15 gpm at 50 psi needed, 57 litres/min at 350 kPa). 6. Pump Tekfoam into the cavity until Tekfoam returns from the higher stand pipe. | Performance Data | Water Input (IGPM) | 12 | 12 | 12 | 12 | | Powder Feed (lbs/min) | 50 | 60 | 8 | 100 | | Water/Tekfoam Ratio (by wt) | 2.4 | 2.0 | 1.5 | 1.2 | | Compressive Strength (psi) | 15 | 30 | 50 | 80 | | Yield (bags/yd3) | 3 | 4 | 5 | 8 | | Density (lbs/ft3)7 | 17 | 20 | 22 | 3 |

Set Time and Temperature If ambient water temperature is low, an optional water heater can be used with the placer unit. A water supply pressure of 100 psi (690 kPa) is required.
